In Memoriam: Michael "Gio" Giordano '84

October 25, 2019

We are heartbroken to report that Michael “Gio” Giordano '84, a beloved member of our school community, passed away early this morning. Until his transition to a new position in the BPS Office of Safety this school year, Gio held many key roles at BLS and touched the lives of thousands. During his seventeen years at BLS, he oversaw Saturday Success School, college advising, and after-school tutoring. He served as the senior class advisor, MCAS administrator, the Exam School Initiative (ESI) director, the school’s emergency management coordinator, and assisted with coaching the football and hockey teams. “Gio’s Crew, ” his band of student volunteers, could always be counted on to provide help and support throughout the building.

There will be opportunities for members of our community to collectively and individually express their thoughts and feelings with one another and the Giordano family.
