Exam School Initiative, a program funded by BPS, the Mayor's Office, and the BLSA
This program strives to bridge the gap for students in underrepresented elementary and middle schools to gain admission and achieve success at one of the three Boston exam schools (Boston Latin Academy, Boston Latin School and the John D. O'Bryant School of Math & Science).
Each spring, BPS invites rising 6th graders -- based on standardized test scores and principal recommendations -- from underrepresented schools to participate in the summer program. This experience, hosted and staffed at BLS, focuses on test taking and academic preparedness.
The fall program brings these same students back to BLS on Saturdays in the weeks leading up to the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) in November building upon the summer curriculum.
The ESI is funded by BPS, the Mayor's Office along with additional support coming from generous alumni, parent, and friend donations via the BLSA.
Learn more about the ESI's expansion to 750 seats.
