Congratulations Class of 2014

Welcome Newest Alumni

On June 9th, 366 students joined our ranks as alumni of Boston Latin School. On their behalf we say thank you for all you've done to support their success. During their four or six years at BLS, these talented students have benefitted from generous BLSA investments, including:

  • $1.5 million for academics and student support;
  • $1.5 million to support technology and the library;
  • $1.2 million for athletics and wellness programs;
  • $450,000 to support fine and performing arts; and,
  • $415,000 for paid summer internships through Babbitt, Deitch, Seevak and Ward Fellowships.
Last year, more than 3,430 alumni, families and friends made gifts to support the students and faculty at BLS. Gratiae!

Going Global: Spotlight on USVI

Throughout the school year, BLS faculty and students embark on learning expeditions around the globe. The learning does not stop for our global citizens over the summer. Masters Terry Cojohn and Zach Smith led a group of students in the U.S. Virgin Islands to study climate effects on undersea life. View their photo gallery here. These global experiences are made possible in part by the BLS Clough Center for Global Understanding, endowed by Chuck Clough ’60.

Points of Pride

Thank you to everyone who responded to our April question: Which BLS alum was director of the famed Boston Marathon for nearly four decades and helped grow it from a race with a couple hundred racers into one of the premier marathons in the world? The correct answer is: William T. Cloney '29. And the winner is: Amanda Anastasia '09. Congratulations!

Visit the Points of Pride Contest webpage to see the answers to past questions as well as all of our proud winners.

July question:
Can you name the alum who can list a CNN Hero Award and being named One of the Most Powerful in Philanthropy by Forbes Magazine as part of his/her distinguished credits?

Participants should send responses — including name and class year — magna cum celeritate via e-mail. We’ll be happy to reward the first correct responder with a small BLS item! Note: Alumni may win only once during an academic year.
