Keeping Latin School Prima Perpetua - First Forever

The Prima Perpetua Campaign fueled by the generous commitments of alumni, families and friends reaches toward its $50 million goal to secure the future of Boston Latin School. At the campaign's inaugural kick-off gala on November 15, BLS Head Master Lynne Mooney Teta '86, P'18, '19 and BLSA President Peter G. Kelly '83 announced that more than $27 million dollars had been raised to date toward this ambitious fund-raising goal to support our nation’s first public school with specific focus on STEM, global understanding, liberal arts foundations, experiential learning and athletics/wellness.

Gratiae is Now Online!

Please join us in thanking the more than 3,600 alumni, families, faculty and friends who invested in the BLSA and the students, educators, and mentors of Boston Latin School in the last fiscal year (July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014). With gratitude for their gifts large and small, THANK YOU for supporting BLS! In this edition of Gratiae, we look toward the future as masters examine the goals of the Prima Perpetua Campaign and discuss how the evolution of teaching and learning environment will benefit BLS students – and through them, the world.

Points of Pride

Thank you to everyone who responded to our July question: Can you name the alum who can list a CNN Hero Award and being named One of the Most Powerful in Philanthropy by Forbes Magazine as part of his/her distinguished credits? The correct answer is: Alfa Demmellash '99. And the winner is: Jennica Allen '07. Congratulations!

January question:
Can you name the BLS graduate who is honored with this statue in Boston's Public Garden and who inspired others “To look up and not down; To look forward and not back; To look out and not in; and To lend a hand."?

Participants should send responses — including name and class year — magna cum celeritate via e-mail. We’ll be happy to reward the first correct responder with a small BLS item! Note: Alumni may win only once during an academic year.

Visit the Points of Pride Contest webpage to see the answers to past questions as well as all of our proud winners.
