Viewing the Classics Through a Contemporary Lens

The Classics Department has undertaken professional development work to review its program offerings with a renewed focus on 21st century learning expectations. Coursework includes students analyzing stereotypes in Ancient Roman society compared with modern day examples, and reflecting on Rome's multi-ethnic culture from a variety of perspectives. Our Junior Classical League students get to demonstrate their competence at the National JCL conventions, most recently taking home four out of the top five awards in the Academic Decathlon.
